Dot and Beyond is a product strategy and experience design studio working at the intersection of tech and business outcomes. We’re partnering with a cloud-based telecom platform that spans VoIP, SIP, UCaaS, and AI-enabled PBX systems. We’re looking for a QA Engineer who understands the complexity of real-time communication systems and can test at both protocol and product levels.

Role Overview

We’re seeking a QA Engineer with deep hands-on experience in testing VoIP, PBX, and WebRTC platforms. This role requires a strong foundation in SIP/RTP, debugging tools like Wireshark and sngrep, and a good understanding of service-level issues across Linux environments. You’ll be involved in end-to-end testing of real-time communication flows including IVR, call forwarding, video calling, and quality assurance across audio/video pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute test plans for VoIP platforms such as FreeSWITCH and Asterisk.
  • Perform SIP and RTP flow testing using tools like sngrep, Wireshark, and analyse call quality metrics (MOS, jitter, packet loss).
  • Test RESTful APIs and WebSocket-based communication for call events, messaging, and control flows.
  • Validate WebRTC-based video calling modules, including multi-party video rooms.
  • Conduct end-to-end functional testing of hosted PBX features: IVR, voicemail, call transfer, call forwarding, DND, etc.
  • Collect and analyse logs in Linux server environments to troubleshoot service-level issues.
  • Perform load and stress testing using tools like JMeter, k6, and simulate concurrent call loads.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and product owners to define QA strategies and test coverage.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4+ years of QA experience in telecom/VoIP/real-time platforms.
  • Strong understanding of SIP, RTP, ICE, and debugging call flows.
  • Proficiency in tools like Wireshark, sngrep, and Linux log analysis.
  • Experience testing RESTful APIs and WebSockets.
  • Good understanding of WebRTC, including video pipeline behaviour.
  • Familiarity with hosted PBX environments and their feature sets.
  • Experience with audio/video quality testing and interpreting MOS scores.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
  • Exposure to monitoring/log aggregation tools (e.g. Kibana, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Experience writing automated test scripts for VoIP workflows.
