Guo cofounded Zo Computer after starting on the early Venmo team and joining Stripe as its 80th engineer, and his argument is that people used to feel at home on their machines and no longer do, because everything they touch is rented. You pay a subscription to a software company, which pays rent to a cloud provider, which pays rent to whoever sells the chips, and your data sits in silos you do not control while prices climb for features nobody asked for. Zo is his answer, a personal server with AI built into it, and the two users he walks through are not developers.
