Two people write the same login test in one sprint. A regression suite gets copied for a release and never merged back. The copies cost you later: slower runs, fixes that land in one copy and miss the others, and coverage reports that overstate what's covered. Past a few thousand test cases, nobody finds them by hand. Detection is semantic, not text matching. The agent reads each test case's title, steps, and description, so tests that say the same thing in different words still get matched. How the Test Deduplication Agent works: → Scope: scan the whole project, or one folder with its sub-folders → Minimum match score: controls how many results come back, not detection accuracy. Start at 80 or above for near-certain duplicates, then lower it on later passes → Review: each base test case with its duplicates and % match, plus an AI summary of how two tests relate → Compare: switch between Diff, Base, and Duplicate views → Resolve: Mark for deletion, Ignore, or Change Base to keep the better-written test → Triage band by band with the Matches filter (Above 80%, 50–80%, 20–50%, Below 20%) → Delete: type DELETE to confirm. Deletion is permanent, and linked test runs stay intact Not sure about a match? Ignore it and archive the test case instead.
