Test Execution Rate
Test execution rate measures how many test cases have actually been run out of those planned for a given cycle, expressed as a percentage or a count — a basic progress indicator during an active testing cycle, distinct from pass/fail rate, which measures the outcome of those executions.
Tracked daily or per test session, execution rate answers "are we on pace to finish testing this cycle in time" — a team midway through a test cycle with a low execution rate against the plan has an early warning that either scope needs to be cut, more time is needed, or effort needs to be reallocated.
It's frequently reported alongside pass/fail rate to give a fuller picture: execution rate shows testing progress, pass/fail rate shows what that progress has actually revealed about product quality — the two together are more informative than either metric reported alone.
