Bug Triage
Bug triage is the regular process of reviewing newly reported defects as a team, assigning severity and priority, and deciding what gets worked on next — separating genuinely urgent issues from lower-impact ones in a backlog that would otherwise grow unmanageable without deliberate prioritization.
A typical triage meeting reviews each new bug report and makes several decisions at once: confirm it's actually a valid bug (not a misunderstanding or intended behavior), assign or confirm severity and priority, route it to the right team or individual, and sometimes close reports that can't be reproduced or lack enough information to act on.
Without regular triage, bug trackers tend to accumulate an ever-growing backlog nobody's actively managing — triage is what keeps a defect list a living, prioritized work queue rather than a graveyard of tickets nobody ever revisits or closes.
