Putting ChatGPT to the Test: What Is Software Testing?
I asked ChatGPT what software testing is, then graded the answer the way I'd grade a junior tester on their first day. As someone who's spent 20 years in QA, I wanted to see whether the definition actually holds up. In this one I run the prompt live, react to what comes back, and give it a grade. ChatGPT framed software testing as verification plus validation plus risk reduction, walked through the major test types, and made the point that testing isn't really about finding bugs so much as giving the team enough information about quality and risk to make a release decision. Solid answer. But here's the catch: I ran the same prompt earlier and got a different definition. That's exactly why you can never take AI output at face value in QA work.
