REA (Reverse Engineer Anything) is the viral GitHub repo with more than 372,000 stars that says it can take apart any app. I raced it against plain Claude Code to fix the annoying auto zoom in FocuSee, the screen recorder I use for every video. Both built a working zoom in about 15 minutes. REA took about 9 minutes more and was the only one that explained why. The only difference was REA with the Ghidra decompiler in session A. In those extra minutes REA explained why FocuSee's typing zoom cuts the text: it aims at the text cursor with a fixed amount of zoom and never measures the box. In this video I show the install, the race, the side by side test on the same take, and when REA is worth bringing in. A note before you try this I analysed FocuSee, an app I pay for, for learning only. REA's licence says it is for lawful research and for software you own or are authorized to examine. Nothing from FocuSee was copied or shared. What I built is a small zoom tool that sits next to my own editing workflow, made from my own recordings, and it stays on my machine. Hence, before you point REA or any decompiler at an app, read REA's licence and that app's terms, because they decide what you are allowed to do. This video is not legal advice.
