Think Time

Think time is the simulated pause a virtual user takes between actions during a load test — the time a real person spends reading a page, deciding what to click next, or typing — included specifically to make simulated traffic behave more like genuine human usage rather than an unrealistic, non-stop request hammer.

Without think time, a load test's virtual users fire requests as fast as technically possible, which produces a load pattern no real human traffic ever actually generates — a system might "pass" that unrealistic test while still struggling under genuine, humanly-paced but sustained real-world usage, or vice versa.

Realistic think-time values are usually derived from actual analytics data — how long users really spend on a given page before their next action — rather than an arbitrary guess, since getting this wrong skews the entire load test's traffic model away from reality.
