Quality Coach
A Quality Coach helps teams and individuals improve their testing practices and quality mindset — mentoring, training, and embedding good testing habits across an organization — a role focused on raising the overall quality capability of a team, rather than executing tests directly themselves.
The role reflects a broader shift in some organizations away from a centralized QA team solely responsible for quality, toward a model where quality is everyone's responsibility — a Quality Coach's job is making that shift actually work, by teaching developers to write better tests, helping teams adopt practices like TDD or BDD, and building a shared quality culture.
It's less common than other QA titles and tends to appear at larger, more mature engineering organizations that have already invested heavily in shift-left practices and want a dedicated role specifically championing and scaling that mindset across many teams at once, rather than one QA team trying to cover everything alone.
