Xray
Xray is a test management app built directly as a Jira add-on, letting teams manage test cases, test plans, and execution cycles natively within Jira rather than in a separate standalone tool — closely integrating testing with Jira's existing issue and requirements tracking.
Because Xray lives inside Jira itself, test cases, test executions, and defects all exist as Jira issue types linked directly to requirements and stories — giving very tight requirements traceability without needing to sync data between two separate systems the way a standalone tool like TestRail requires.
The tradeoff is that Xray inherits Jira's interface and performance characteristics rather than offering a purpose-built, dedicated test management UI — teams already fully committed to Jira as their single source of truth often prefer this tight integration, while others find a standalone tool's dedicated interface a better fit for heavy day-to-day test management work.
